Essential Oils & Diffusers

Essential Oils

I LOVE essential oils! I diffuse them daily throughout the house. It just helps lift the spirits and make the day more productive for us all! They can promote better sleep, support emotional health, repel insects and are a great alternative to candles.

Peppermint is my go to for the office and the school room. Peppermint is know to stimulate and calm the mind. Sounds like it would be counteractive when you read that statement… But I tell ya, it helps with cognitive function (concentration) and yet it can take the edge of off anxiety at the same time. It is wonderful for fresh breathe, upset stomach, and can even take away pain from a bug bite.

One evening while out to dinner, we decided to sit on the patio at the restaurant. While walking out the patio, some type of flying insect or bee flew right into my neck and bit or stung me. It was super painful and started to swell a bit. I thought I’d try to rub some peppermint oil on to see what it would do. Yes, I carry it in my purse, along with Melaleuca (or Tea Tree Oil). The peppermint actually took the pain away and the swelling started to go down, it was amazing!

Combining Cinnamon & Clove is my other current go to combination for this fall season. I had the combination diffusing on Thanksgiving this year and people were literally stopping and smelling it all day long, they all loved it too!

Another great combination is Lemon & Lavender. It is such a clean and relaxing scent when combined. Lemon is great in so many ways, it is a de-greaser, disinfectant, mood booster, insect replant and so much more. Lavender is a great stress reliever, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and a bit of a sedative/sleep aide.

A starter pack like this one would be a great investment if you’ve never tried them or it could be great for traveling as well. When my husband was traveling a lot with work a few years back, I got him a diffuser and a starter pack. He stayed in some pretty small towns with some very old rooms that just smelled horrible. Difussing oils helped with cleaning the air, removing the scents and helping him sleep at night.

Difussers

Diffusers are great. I believe we have four of them right now. There is a huge one that is kept in the central part of our house that literally lasts all day long. It holds 15.4 ounces of water. We also have 3 smaller ones throughout the house.

They have so many wonderful benefits. Cleansing the air, removing odors and airborne pathogens. Relaxes the mind and body. Promotes concentration and alertness. Relaxes and calms, relieving tension and stress. These are just a few of the ways diffusing oils can help, there are many more and we are so happy to share these thoughts with you.

Please read all labels and do your research before purchasing any essential oil. Not all oils are of good quality. No all oils should be ingested or placed directly on the skin. Always purchase from a reputable company. All of these thoughts and suggestions are based on my personal use. I am not licensed to provide medical advice. There are affiliate links within this post.

I am a huge fan of doterra essential oils! I use them everyday day, diffuse them, and clean with them. I no longer use commercial cleaning products! I make my homemade cleaning recipes with essential oils and all natural products. Love this, Thanks for sharing! 😉

Diana – That is great!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and how you use your oils. I am so glad you enjoyed my post. I have made a few cleaning products with essential oils too and have really liked them. I will have to try more 🙂 Also, I just went to your website and requested your free ebook. Can’t wait to read it! Have a great day!

I love essential oils too! I use Eucalyptus on my baby’s feet when he’s congested, kind of like one would use Vick’s Vapor Rub. But I ran out and haven’t purchased more yet and I’ve missed it. Do you prefer a specific brand or do you think it matters what brand? I am looking at this starter kit you listed. Great ideas here also!

Hi Kelli, The top 3 brands I personally use are doTerra, Young Living, and Plant Therapy. I think my favorite oil, if I had to choose just one, would be Peppermint oil. Secondly would be Melaleuca. I actually carry these in my purse. 🙂 I believe it really does matter what brand you are buying. Please do your research before buying essential oils as many oils are not actually pure oils, they have added “junk” that is not healthy for you.
