Ingredients
Crumble Topping
- 2 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and diced into bite-size pieces)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons corn start
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Apple Filling
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 8 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Lightly spray 8 or 9 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray an set aside.
Crumble Topping:
- In a medium bowl combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Whisk to combine.
- Add the melted butter and stir with a fork until crumbly.
Apple Filling:
- In a large bowl combine sugar, corn starch, salt, and cinnamon.
- Whisk to combine.
- Add in lemon juice and apples.
- Stir all together until fully incorporated.
Assemble and Bake
- Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and distribute evenly.
- Sprinkle crumble topping mixture over the top of the filling
- Bake for 35-45 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown on top.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Serve with ice cream or whipped topping of choice.
