Gluten-Free Apple Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal
This gluten-free Apple Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal is a dupe for the store-bought instant oatmeal packets that you buy at the store. They’re super easy to make all you have to do is add milk or water put it in the microwave or cook it on the stove top and you’ve got a quick easy breakfast in no time.
This recipe is great for meal prep or for everyone to enjoy whenever they need a quick breakfast. The best part is it has less sugar than the store-bought versions and flax seed for extra nutrients.Â
This recipe makes around 10 individual servings in all.
Ingredients:Â
- 4 cups gluten-free quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup diced dried apples
- ½ cup ground flax seed
- ¼ cup coconut sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Toppings (Optional):
Add theses items after cooking the oatmeal for a little extra something if you’d like:
- Sprinkle more cinnamon on top
- Drizzle Maple Syrup or Honey
- Add nuts or seeds
- Add fresh fruit
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, stir together the oats, dried apples, flax seed, maple sugar, cinnamon, and salt.Â
2. Store in airtight container in your pantry until ready to make.
How To Make – Microwave:Â
Single Serving:
- Scoop ½ cup (of the oat mixture into a bowl and add 1 cup milk or water.
- Stir together until it’s combined.
- Microwave for 1½ to 2 minutes, or until they reach your desired consistency.
How To Make – Stove-top:
Single Serving:
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup milk or water to a boil.
- Stir in ½ cup of the oat mixture to the saucepan
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until they reach your desired consistency.
Notes & Tips:
Store the dry oat mixture in an airtight container in your pantry for up to 3 months.
Swap the apples with raisins, dried blueberries, or dried cranberries.Â
Add your favorite chopped nuts to the mix.
You can omit the sugar and make this recipe entirely sugar-free.Â
Or just add a splash of maple syrup on top before serving if you prefer.
