Talking vs Texting

Maybe I’m just old-fashioned but does anyone else miss actually talking to people on the phone over texting all the time? Or is that just me? I feel like it’s so impersonal and true thoughts and feelings may be skewed.

I’m not here to start an argument. Texting can be great to say a quick hello or just let someone else know your thinking of them. Those are always nice messages to receive. Or a quick, “I’m running a bit late to meet you”… which seems to be me too often (haha).

People are missing the true interaction of hearing an actual voice. Can we truly understand if a person is happy or sad in the words they write? Are they covering up their true thoughts and feelings so they don’t bring you down or so that you won’t worry about them?

True feelings and thoughts can be spoken and heard in what the words you use, your tone of voice, and the level of enthusiasm. You simply can’t get that with quick words, emoji’s and GIF’s.

Relationships certainly seem to change.. Not that I’m perfect or anything. But, I feel like I’ve really lost touch with some people in my life due to this. I miss talking to them and to be honest, it kinda hurts my feelings that we don’t talk very often. They are no longer the people I would call if I needed something either. It seems they are “too busy” to be bothered.

Life is busy for all of us. We have work, family, and lives to live. Are we so fast paced that we can’t take 10 minutes to make a call to our loved ones for a real heart to heart? It’s not always easy, but it is important to connect with the ones we love.

I challenge you to reach out to those you care about and connect on a personal level. Let them know you care in person, not just by message~

Have a wonderful day!
